• Project Scope: Provision of dairy infrastructure to poor milkmen, including approximately 200 cows and milk-extracting and processing machines

Project Background

In 2005, Parivartan Samaj Vikas Samiti launched a transformative dairy initiative aimed at improving the livelihoods of impoverished tribal milkmen in Korba, Chhattisgarh.
The core objective was to empower these communities by providing comprehensive dairy infrastructure and promoting economic self-reliance.

Objectives

• Economic Empowerment: Uplift tribal milkmen by equipping them with the means to engage in dairy farming effectively.
• Increase Income: Improve milk production and processing to raise household income levels.

Implementation

• Livestock Acquisition: Approximately 200 high-yielding cows were distributed to tribal milkmen.
• Infrastructure Development: Milk extraction and processing units with modern equipment were established.
• Training and Capacity Building: Beneficiaries were trained in dairy farming, animal husbandry, and milk processing techniques.

Impact

• Economic Upliftment: Monthly income rose from ₹3,000 to around ₹10,000 per family, providing financial stability.
• Improved Living Conditions: Increased earnings enabled access to better healthcare, education, and housing.
