The Bamboo Craft Cluster was established in Chhindwara under the SFURTI scheme of the Ministry of MSME, Government of India.
This cluster was developed to meet the needs of bamboo artisans by providing modern and traditional tools, machines,
and raw materials worth INR 45,00,000. A total of 891 artisan families have found sustainable livelihoods through this initiative.
In the year 2022–2023, we observed that artisans’ income doubled, highlighting the success of the program.
The cluster has also helped 369 women artisans to become self-reliant.

The cluster serves as a vibrant hub for local artisans, supporting their skills and promoting sustainable economic development.
We have helped artisans move beyond their local communities, giving them platforms to display their work in major cities
and international markets. This global exposure has broadened their perspectives and improved their quality of life.

Their monthly income has increased from INR 2,500 to INR 5,000, demonstrating the impact of access to better skills and resources.

Skill Enhancement and Soft Interventions

Parivartan Samaj Vikas Samiti emphasizes holistic development. To support artisans’ overall growth, the following soft

  • Awareness Workshops on Government Schemes: Sessions provided information about available government support and how to benefit from it.
  • Two Week Training Program on New and Advanced Equipment: Training improved artisans’ familiarity with modern tools, enhancing productivity.

Global Exposure and Market Reach

Parivartan Samaj Vikas Samiti enabled artisans to present their bamboo crafts in urban centers and global markets.
This exposure brought new economic opportunities and encouraged the cultural appreciation of indigenous craftsmanship.
